Even world champions need a bit of a kick-start sometimes – and that can be no bad thing, as Kully Sunda will testify.
Health First Gym is a small, independent business in Nuneaton run by two-time world champion kick-boxer Kully Sunda, and he prides himself on bringing his personal ethos of hard work and respect into the workplace.
Kully and his team have created a space where parents can work out in the gym while their kids have lessons, meaning both adult and child stay fit and healthy.
While the gym has a great sign-up rate for new members after they had taken in a tour, Kully was still keen to reach even more potential new customers. But how?
What we suggested certainly packed a punch, and crucially saw Health First Gym reach thousands more people and increase their membership – without any paid promotion at all.
Traditionally, Kully and his team would spread flyers and other similar promotional material around Nuneaton and the surrounding area in a bid to attract new visitors to the gym.
But that strategy wasn’t proving scalable and they wanted a way to reach more people.
We suggested they record the tour and upload the video on to Facebook. This would give potential new members a first-person perspective in which they could meet the team and ‘walk around’ the gym.
One of the trainers, Mike, gives the tour. It’s engaging and entertaining, and Mike even asks when you are going to sign up at the end.
Without any paid promotion, the video reached thousands more people that any of their other content and saw a wave of new members sign up at the gym, so much so that they hit their target of new members before the end of their usual promotion period.
Since then, we’ve introduced videos outlining basic kick-boxing moves, of students celebrating their achievements, of the progress of gym members and their journeys towards fitter lifestyles, as well as the odd slo-mo of instructors’ skills.
A simple video, but a terrific impact.
